Many people consider the whole of Dubai an amusement park, and they well may be right! But the city also has some actual theme parks. Endless water slides, true-to-life film studios, camels and even indoor skiing. Dubai has it all.
The largest and most popular water theme park in the world is located at The Palm Jumeirah in the Atlantis Resort in Dubai. It is the perfect destination for adrenaline junkies: Aquaventure Dubai consists of 42 hectares full of thrilling attractions, and with its countless swimming pools and water slides will guarantee you days of water fun. One of the highlights is the 28-metre high Ziggurat, which launches visitors into a 60-metre slide with a transparent tunnel that passes through a shark lagoon.
2. Wild Wadi Waterpark
Another top attraction in Dubai is the Wild Wadi Waterpark, situated adjacent to the famous Burj Al Arab hotel, and based on the Arabian tale of Sinbad the Sailor. It offers 24 slides, upward streams and the most intense wild water rides, some of which are over 30 metres high and reach speeds of 80 kilometres an hour.
3. Dolphin Bay
Adjacent to Aquaventure (see 1) you’ll find Dolphin Bay, a park where people can interact and swim with dolphins. No matter your age, there are dedicated programmes for all visitors. If you want to be towed behind a dolphin from its dorsal fin be prepared to reach deep into your pockets as, at 200 euros, this is one of the most expensive activities here. This park can make many a dream come true.
4. Wonderland Theme Park
Wonderland is a true family park for people of all ages. It is divided in three sections and offers plenty of water rides, like many of the amusement parks in Dubai. The attractions, distributed over 18 hectares, are both indoors and outside. The heart of Wonderland consists of a giant hall with over 100 attractions and videogames, including go-carts, camel rides, a 3D theatre and paintball.
