George Square is the principle civic square in Glasgow and is named after King George III. First laid out in 1871 today the east side is dominated by the ornate Glasgow City Chambers, headquarters of Glasgow City Council. The south side has the main Tourist Information Centre and the former GPO building whilst north side consists mainly of Queen Street railway station and the Millennium Hotel. To the west is Queen Street, with the Chamers of Commerce building and Weatherspoon's restaurant and bar. Hotels.tv has selected a number of hotels and apartments all within 0.5 miles of George Square, and the range of different accommodation types should offer something for everyone.
